Shire of Beverley
Beverley, WA
March 2023
In March 2023, the Wheatbelt towns of Beverley and Brookton experienced over 100mm of rain and hail in two days, causing extensive road damage. More than 130 locations across the Shire were affected, with scoured shoulders, blocked culverts, failed headwalls, damaged bridge props, and silted drains. MCC was engaged by HC Constructions in partnership with the Shire of Beverley to deliver a 12-month remediation program.
Beginning in September 2024, MCC deployed a permanent crew on a 10:4 DIDO roster. We jet-washed 500+ culverts, reinstated 40 km of shoulders and drainage, addressed six major flood sites, and completed resurfacing, culvert replacement, and seal repairs. We partnered with local farmers and businesses, implemented safe work protocols to manage heat, and equipped crews with Starlink and radio comms to navigate harsh and remote conditions.
The project was completed four months ahead of schedule and under budget. At $6.4M and 5,394 hours, it was our largest contract to date. Our performance was praised by both HC Constructions and the Shire, with new opportunities now in discussion.
